The Friends of Dorothy project is celebrating its second successful year of offering support to older LGBT people and is now looking to recruit new volunteers to help with its befriending and support service.
Project worker Andrew Drake says: “Over the last two years the number of service users has increased and we are now looking for members of the community who feel that they may be able to support our older LGB & T by offering their friendship and support.
Chris, a service user, added: “Personally I have benefited enormously from engaging with he project and I have absolutely no doubt that along with other aspects of my recovery . . . the Friends of Dorothy project has played a major role in my current well being and feeling that I am alive again.”
