Project Oscar is the LGBT support service based in the Public Health directorate at Central Lancashire Primary Care Trust. Contact the Project on Freephone 0800 783 5345, or by e-mail to: project-oscar@centrallancashire.nhs.uk.

The Project runs a helpline (Mondays 6pm-8pm, and office hours any weekday whenever the project worker is in),

It is also active in raising awareness locally about homophobia and other LGBT issues, and offers training to organisations looking to make their services more accessible to LGBT people.

Project Oscar encourages organisations in Central Lancashire to sign up to the Navajo Charter Mark (www.navajoonline.org.uk) to show they offer a gay-friendly service. We provide basic awareness training and also offer a more in-depth 35-hour course for trainers, group workers and members of the LGBT community to learn more about LGBT issues, history and culture.

Project Oscar publishes a regular newsletter for any LGBT people who want to keep in touch with what’s happening locally and further afield. Please contact the Project if you would like to go on the mailing list. The newsletter is sent out also to any local organisations interested in staying in touch with LGBT news. The Project can also send out condoms, lube, safer sex leaflets and The Pink Paper to LGBT residents of Central Lancashire.

Some of our LGBT community members are involved in the “Breakout” team which produces LGBT radio programmes for our local community radio station Chorley FM. This programme can be heard online at www.chorley.fm on Sunday evenings from 10pm – midnight.
